The Brief

We were appointed on this project to replace an existing single storey structure, of poor quality with a new building to accommodate a kitchen and social space. The aspirations were for a unique and contemporary design with views and access to the garden.

Our Solution

The design incorporates an increase to the width in the footprint provided a more suitable size and shape for an open plan space. Full height recessed framed sliding doors and beautifully engineered cantilevered corner maximise the views to the outside. An overhanging roof provides solar shading from the south facing garden. The shallow pitch hipped roof and staggered eaves detail creates the illusion of a slimline floating roof. Cedar clad walls, soffits and veranda give the building a natural earthy feel, nestling at ease in its wooded surroundings.
