The Brief

Having previously worked with The Street Bakeshop, they approached us to transform an existing retail unit in Reading into a boutique bakery and café, combining strong brand identity with a high-quality customer experience. The project involved a full interior and exterior refurbishment, to create a welcoming and design-led space. As experienced commercial architects and interior designers in Hampshire, the brief focused on delivering a contemporary hospitality environment that is both visually distinctive and operationally efficient.

Our Solution

Our design reconfigured the unit to create a clear and engaging customer journey, centred around an open bakery counter that showcases the craft of the business. The layout enhances visibility, flow and interaction, supporting both staff efficiency and customer experience.

We delivered a comprehensive interior design scheme, carefully considering materials, lighting and bespoke joinery to create a warm, contemporary atmosphere. The palette combines texture, colour and refined detailing to establish a strong brand identity, while durable finishes ensure long-term performance in a busy café setting. This approach reflects our expertise in commercial interior design, creating spaces that are both functional and visually impactful.

Externally, the façade was upgraded to strengthen the building’s presence, with large glazed openings improving visibility and connection to the surrounding environment.
