This Georgian property of historical significance required a sensitive architectural intervention that enhanced modern living while respecting its heritage. Originally used during the Second World War by rocket scientists, the building carries a unique historical narrative. Our brief was to restore and extend the home in a way that harmonises with its Georgian character, preserving period detailing while creating contemporary spaces suited to family life.

Our Solution

Our design approach balanced heritage sensitivity with modern functionality. The extension and internal reconfiguration were conceived to complement the original Georgian proportions and detailing, using a material palette and architectural language that feels authentic to the period while clearly expressing its contemporary evolution. Generous glazing and improved spatial flow enhance the relationship between interior and garden, bringing light and connectivity without detracting from the building’s historical presence. The result is a home that respects its past while delivering the performance and comfort of modern living.
