Bastion was commissioned to design a bespoke new build home in Berkshire, inspired by traditional farmhouse and cottage architecture. The aim was to create a warm, characterful home that reflects rural vernacular design while delivering modern performance and comfort. As an architectural design studio in Hampshire, we provided a full service - from concept and design development through to planning and technical design - ensuring a cohesive process from vision to delivery.

Our Solution

We led the project through all stages, developing a design that balances traditional farmhouse character with contemporary clarity. The composition draws on simple forms, pitched roofs, dormer windows and a refined material palette, creating a home that feels authentic and well-proportioned.

Through design development, we refined massing and detailing, while internally creating light-filled spaces that support modern living. The planning process ensured the design responded to its context while maintaining the original vision.

At technical stage, we produced a coordinated, buildable package, resolving detailing with precision and supporting delivery on site. The result is a high-quality new build home that combines rural character with modern performance - a timeless and well-crafted residence.
