Church Road

A unique first floor extension to a traditional country home.

+ Project Overview

Fleet, Hamsphire

2017

The Brief

The client wanted to introduce a striking, light-filled first-floor extension to a traditional country home that would create a feature ensuite space with views — emphasising natural light and spatial quality while contrasting with the existing architecture. This required a design that combines traditional dwelling language with a contemporary architectural expression that elevates both usability and visual character.

Our Solution

We designed a lightweight first-floor extension featuring a slender steel frame and expansive black Crittall-style glazing, coupled with decorative steel railings, to create a distinguished architectural addition that both contrasts with and complements the original house. Perched above the ground floor, the extension brings natural light into the bathrooms and offers elevated views, enriching the everyday experience of the spaces.
