Gorseway. Fleet, Hampshire. Contemporary single storey rear extension to a 60’s property in Hampshire.

INTRODUCTION
Contemporary single storey rear extension to a 60’s property in Hampshire.
WHAT WAS THE BRIEF?
The existing property is a 60’s detached dwelling with a dated and uninspiring layout and appearance. The client’s requirements were to improve circulation/flow of the ground floor, provide a study room and create a more generous kitchen, dining and living space with views and access to the rear garden.
OUR SOLUTION
A modestly sized rear extension and simple internal reconfiguration allowed for a the living areas to span the rear of the house and provide a study to the front. Large sliding doors flush with the floor and ceiling provide clean lines and picture frame the views to the garden. Minor internal alterations to the front of the house allowed for a WC/shower room and separate utility with external side access. Externally the extension is contemporary in appearance with white render and black aluminium door frames providing a stark contrast to each other and the existing house. A band of timber cladding helps to soften the appearance and hide the wall separating the rear facing rooms.
